Scapels and forceps

Today is the big day! Woke up at a quarter to 8, then had my shower and brekkie. I prepared some chicken burger to bata just in case lapar later on. While I was going through my morning rituals, kedengaran ada someone membuzz our apartment. Turned out rupanya c Syimsyim. Katanya, ia cuba2 saja singgah mana tau ada orang masih di rumah. We had the same schedule today, and so did Sa'dy and Yunyun.

Syimsyim and I walked to uni where we were having our histology practical at 9am. We were kinda late tadi atu, so by the time we reached the practical room, it was almost full. But we managed to grab seats somewhere in the middle of the room. In relation to this week's case, we covered the histology of the breast. The prac's not too bad, as we only stayed for 40 minutes saja, hehe. Start orang keluar, bah ikut tah kami. People are welcomed to stay if they are interested in studying the slides of breast tissue on the microscope. We just went to the front of the room where enlarged pictures from slides of breast tissue were being displayed. We figured we could understand better than just looking through the microscopes kan since ani belabels and stuff lagi.

After the prac, Yunyun, Syimsyim, Sa'dy and I went to UQ Bookshop dangankan Syimsyim bali disposable lab coat for another practical later. Then we spent some time at the Writer's Cafe near the book shop. We havent actually tried the food di sana before and nya Sa'dy nyaman jua makanan and minuman nya. We agreed to try it out since usulnya selalu laku jua the place. Sa'dy and Yunyun ordered hot chocolates while Syimsyim and I tried the chocolate milk shake. Nyaman! It costs only $4 and it came in a large glass. Basar banar, sampai nda kan habis, hehe. We shared a large plate of nachos. Ani pun nyaman! Gerenti nyanyat nanti makan sana lagi.

After our food break, we went to the library to kill some time before our next practical. At close to 1pm, we went to the anatomy practical class where we will be doing dissection (my first!) on cadavers. We put on our yellow disposable lab coats and went to our respective PBL groups. Each PBL group was given one cadaver (mayat) each. The topic for this week's anatomy practical is the dissection of the limbs. Different groups were asked to dissect(kerat) different parts of the limb. We were given the instructions to dissect the left leg. Before starting the session, the tutor gave a briefing and explained that these cadavers were donated by the agreement of the said person for medical learning purposes and therefore should be treated with respect. We were used to examine cadavers that have been dissected beforehand, but this time was different since we were given the full body, still with the skin intact.

We started the dissection in our respective groups, first with the introduction to the proper use and handling of the dissecting equipments, which includes scapels, scissors and forceps. The blades on the scapel are very sharp that they could even cut through the bone. Thus, we were reminded balik2 to be very careful when handling them, so as to prevent any scapel cuts. We took turns trying out the dissecting equipments on the cadaver, being careful not to cut the blood vessels. We were instructed to first make an incision on the leg, remove the skin, then shave the fatty layer, followed by the fascia layer, to get to the muscles layer. Siuk rupanya dissection ani. I really enjoyed the session tadi atu and surprisingly spent the 2 hours in the lab for that. Usually nda tah kami stay batah2 di sana.

The dissecting equipments

The dissection will still be going on for the next few weeks along with the usually anatomy practicals. After the 2 hours, we packed our stuff, and simpan balik our cadaver tadi on its bag for future dissections.

The 4 of us went back to our respective homes. Since aku alum makan burger ayamku tadi, sayang jua, so makan tah ku, haha. Oh ya, one more thing, masa ani aku addicted makan cadbury dairy milk with crunchie. Adehh, not good makan chocolate saja ani. Seminggu dah nda ku jogging. Will try to make the effort some time this week, hehe.

Chocolatey goodness... :p
