Weekend Movie Outing

Last night, Tiyah, Rahmat, Ayun and myself decided to head to the movies to catch the night showing of Date Night. The movie was about a married couple living in the suburbs who has fallen into a rut of a routine daily life. Until one night when they decided to have an extra special date night where they eventually became involved in a dangerous situation. It was certainly a funny movie, since it involves two of my favourite comedic actors Steve Carell and Tina Fey. I'd rate the movie 8/10. After the movie, we headed to Coffee Zone to hang out.

One extra calamari ring.. Like a true Bruneian! LOL. Don't worry, we finished it off eventually hehe

Korean Dinner, Movie & Job Update

Hi folks! :)

How's everybody doing? This week has been a good one for me. I've got one great news that I want to share with you here. After less than 1 year and 2 months since I got back, I finally got offered a government job! Yipee! :D I received the letter on Thursday and I feel so ecstatic with the news, heehee. I am still working part time at UBD at the moment though. I'm planning to do my medical check up tomorrow and after that I have to wait for the results and date that I have to start and report to my new job. I am actually very looking forward to start this new chapter in my life. I'll be working as a medical social worker at the hospital, insya Allah. When the time comes to leave UBD then, I know I will be sad to leave my friends and colleagues after less than 3 months of working there. I will surely miss them. I'll even miss the edp participants that I am handling for sure, hehe.

Anyway, on to another story...

Last night I went out with Ayun, Tiyah and Rahmat for a korean dinner at Kroyo restaurant at Kiulap. It has been more than 2 weeks since we last hung out and catch up. Dinner was yummy and we had some kimbap, sweet and sour chicken, a squid dish, tang hoon dishes, some kind of tang hoon soup and rice, hehe. After dinner we decided to check out the movies at the mall. Finding a parking was difficult as would be expected on a Saturday night haha. We managed to get tickets to the 9:30pm showing of Clash of the Titans. Since the four of us have never watched the original movie, we have no real expectations of this movie remake. I quite enjoyed the movie actually. I'd rate it 7.5/10.

Phobia 2

Phobia 2
Source: fareastfilms.com

Last week, Tiyah, Rahmat and myself went to watch Phobia 2 at the Mall cineplex. It is a Thai horror film which showcased five different stories: Novice, Ward, Backpackers, Salvage and In the End. Personally, I think the 4th story is the scariest while the 5th is the funniest. What a way to neutralise the movie haha. I haven't watched the first movie though, and I intend to do so, since the 2nd movie is so good! I have to admit that there are quite a few times that I have to cover my eyes, as you know I would do, hehe. There are some unexpected twists and turns in the movie, so it's good how unpredictable some of the stories are. I'd rate the movie 8.5/10! Yes, that's how awesome it is! :)

Man of Legend

MJ
Source: fanpop.com

Last night, my sister and I went to watch the premier of the MJ's This Is It movie at Kiulap mall. The documentary movie is almost 2 hours long and it really showcases how amazingly talented and an extraordinarily caring person he was. His dance moves were mesmerizing to watch. He knew what he wanted and was passionate about his music. Throughout the movie, there are interviews and behind the scenes footage of his concert rehearsals. He is very much respected and there is plenty of love and teamwork around. Such an inspiration. I'd rate the movie 8.5/10 for its awesomeness! :)

Meatballs and Robots.. Now that's a weird combo..

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Source: entertainmentwallpaper.net

Last week, Mun and I went to watch a movie at the cineplex. We decided to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which is an animated film. The movie is adapted from a children's book by Ron and Judi Barrett. The main character is Flint Lockwood, a young scientist, who is trying to create something that could improve the lives of the people in his town. The other main character is Sam Sparks, a weathergirl who comes to the town who hides her intelligence behind a perky exterior. It is a unique, rather original film. Just the idea of having food fall from the sky is a bit weird, but the film managed to be entertaining and funny. The graphics are very good. The colourful setting of the movie and some of the tantalizing delicious looking food on screen really makes you hungry at the end of the movie, in addition to having cravings of various kinds, haha. I especially enjoy the character of the cop in the movie as well. It is a good family movie. I'd rate the movie 8/10. :)

Surrogates
Source: wallpaperster.com

This week, we watched another movie, Surrogate. This is another interesting movie where humans live in isolation and only interacts through robots known as surrogates. It was a bit confusing at first but it gets better as the story evolved. This action/sci-fi film really makes you think especially with all its twists and turns. I did not really have a high expectation for the film but it turned out great in the end hehe. I can't imagine myself being holed up in my home for eternity. As someone who likes to go out once in a while, I think I would go crazy! haha. Well, that is just me. But overall, it was an interesting concept for a movie which I surprisingly enjoyed. I'd rate the movie 8/10 as well. :)

Fathma's Visit to Brunei

My good friend Fathma is visiting Brunei for a few days before heading back to the Philippines. She was one of our coursemates back in UBD and a fellow friend back in Brisbane. She graduated in UQ in July and so congratulations Fathmee! :) Last night, Rahmat, Tiyah and myself spent some time with Fathma. We had dinner at Pizza Hut Mall. We had pasta and shared a large pizza, half Honey Garlic Chicken and half Meat Lovers. The pasta was very good and while the pizza was good, it was a bit dry.

After stuffing our tummy with good food, we decided to go to the arcade for karaoke at the K-box and to try out some of the machines there. We also tried out the photo booth and had fun choosing different backgrounds and so on, hehe, sakai kami tarus haha. This is a bit different from the neoprint stickers yang dulu famous atu haha. We had 4 copies of the photos with different backgrounds each untuk kenang-kenangan, hahaha. After that, we went to the k-box for our karaoke session. We sang English songs mostly, and apa lagi, video clipsnya cawie-cawie and lama and sometimes langsung nada kaitan with the songs, haha, nyaman kami ketawa meliat hahaha. And we had a really nice surprise! While singing Kryptonite hantam2 haha, we noticed that the video was shot at di mana nah... at UQ!! :D Patut mcm familiar the surroundings, hahaha. Many good memories masa belajar di UQ. How I miss the student life! hehe.

UQ!! :D Haha, excited.

After karaoke, banyak tia kadai tutup, so we decided to check out what is playing in the cinema. We managed to get the last few tickets for the 10pm showing of GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra! And to tell you the truth, I don't really know much pasal GI Joe ani, the only thing yang ku tau is that they have the action figures of GI Joe and dulu ada cartoonsnya, hehe. The movie actually is better than what I expected. It was rather long, about 2 hours. But it was so action-packed and cool and awesome! There were also some funny bits. I likeee.. hehe. I'd rate the movie 8.5/10! :)

And the magic returns..

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Source: entertainmentwallpaper.com

At last, the new Harry Potter movie premiers in Brunei! Being a long time Harry Potter fan, I am absolutely excited to see the film. So last night, Tiyah, Rahmat and myself, went to catch the new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the Mall cineplex. There were a lot of HP fans about. And I have to say that I love the movie! There are some elements of humour, sadness, romance, teenage angst and darkness. From all the other HP movies, I think this is the best yet, hehe. The movie is almost 2 1/2 hours long but it is bearable as we watched the story unfold. We watched glimpses of Lord Voldemort's past and the ultimate discovery of the existence of Horcruxes. Of course I love the book much more than the film, but the film is able to capture most of the highlights of the book. Now that I've watched the 6th film, I can't wait to see the 7th or the final film. However, I read somewhere that the 7th film will be divided into 2 parts, which will come out sometime in 2010 and 2011. Now, that's something to look forward to! :) So for this movie, I'd rate the film 9/10! :)

After the movie, we lepak at Cheezebox and chit chatted till late, hehe. I tried out the Fruits Heaven, which consists of pancakes, vanilla ice cream, custard cream and fruits. Nyaman.. :) Overall, it was a fun outing, hehe.

Oh and today, I went to see the HP movie lagi since my sister wants to see it. I don't mind a bit since I enjoyed it the first time. Well, the second viewing was great as well! :P

Fruits Heaven. Simply divine :)

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Source: www.myopera.com

Last night I went out with Tiyah and Rahmat to the Mall cineplex. The place was quieter than usual due to the swine flu scare. It was even more so with the small number of cinema goers which was very apparent last night. I wore a face mask as a precaution hehehe. We watched Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. It was actually better than I expected! There were some adorable new characters and some scary ones. Well, it's not that scary for me, but I think it would be for the little kiddies haha. The story is well executed and it's very funny. I laughed out loud at some parts of the movie, hehe. I'd rate the movie 8/10! :)

After the movie, we lepak at Cheezebox. The rain was still falling at that time. We stayed till late before heading back home. :)
