Sushi Time!

Last night, I went out to dinner with my old high school friends from what used to be the 'G-Club' (LOL) at Excapade Gadong. I believe it was the first time that the 6 of us managed to be together at one time after all these years. We spent the night catching up with each other. Below are some piccies! :)

Sunshine School Silver Anniversary

Hello dear readers! :)

It is almost 2 weeks since my last update, hehe. Most of my time has been consumed with work and so forth. What fun things have I been up to this past 2 weeks? Well, I have been looking forward to attend some sort of a reunion with my primary school teachers and classmates for a few months now. The night finally came last Saturday night, on 16th October 2010. If you have been following my blog for some time now, you may have gathered that I am a Sunshine School Alumni, who graduated Primary 6 back in 1997. Through facebook and word of mouth, we learnt that the school will be holding a Silver (25th year) anniversary in October. I bought my $30 ticket during Ramadhan through a former teacher of mine, Cikgu Shamsiah. She was my class teacher back in Primary 5 in 1996, if I am not mistaken.

So on the 16th of October, I decided to carpool with my 2 oldest friends since our years in Sunshine; Mas & Zamriah. The function was scheduled to be held at the Jerudong Park Polo & Riding Club, from 7pm to 11pm. Upon arrival, we immediately spotted a lot of our former teachers waiting at the entrance and this led to lots of catching up. We admitted that we were pretty nervous since it has been more than a decade since we last saw them. Fortunately, they still remembered who we are, hehe. According to our teachers, our batch was the second batch to start at the school, which made us pretty senior to all the other kids, haha. And apparently, we were the good kids back then hahaha, when compared to kids nowadays, lol. There were a few x-classmates from our batch who came to the reunion. We were seated with some of the teachers after mingling around. While enjoying dinner, we were treated to performances by the teachers as well as the presence of guest performances from Ms. Angelique and the Bloom Brothers who flew in to Brunei especially for the Anniversary. We stayed well after 11pm, and then said our goodbyes with exchange of phone numbers and the promise of another mini reunion. After the function, Mas, Zam and I decided to continue on the night by 'menungking' at the famous tungking place in JP before heading home. Below are some piccies from the anniversary! :)

Night out with fellow Sunshiners

Last night, I had dinner with some of my primary school friends at Cheezbox. Rachel is currently having her holiday in Brunei, which prompted us to get together again after the last few months that we last saw each other. Only Mas, Rachel, Zam and Yaza can make it last night. It was nice to see each other again and catch up. While Mas and I were getting off the elevator at the Mall, we bumped into none other than our former Sunshine School Maths teacher, Teacher Celia. It was such a coincidence! Hehe. Amazingly she still remembered us after more than a decade and she still looked pretty much the same as before hehe.

We spent the night also looking through our old school photos and laughing at some of the silly antics captured haha. Overall, it was a fun night and we stayed until the restaurant closed at midnight haha. Fortunately Mas and I rode together on the same car so it was less creepy to get to the basement parking that late at night, hehe. We hope to do more mini reunions again in the near future.

Sentimental Value

"All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am"
(The Story - Brandi Carlile)

You can say that I am a sentimental type. I love keeping stuff which holds a great sentimental value to me. Some can even be categorized as junk, haha. The weirdest thing that I have a habit of keeping are plastic bags from travels. I don't know why I love keeping them, other than to make my storage places so full and sometimes I do forget that I kept them after all these years. I try to stop keeping those unique plastics bags now hahaha.

The thing is, I was just cleaning my room this afternoon when I realised how much junk and other stuff that I have accumulated over the years. I told you that I am sentimental, thus I love to keep some stuff that I always manage to convince myself are too 'sayang' to throw away. I am sure that I am not the only person out there who have the same habits that I have. There is always a part of me saying things like, "Oh, maybe this thing would be useful in the future, so I better hold onto it..".

Sometimes there are old things that I keep such as jewelery that was given to me years ago but never wear again. I kept them since they are given by friends and family, and of course are precious reminders of friendships and good relationships. I still have in my possession one of those best friends half pendant thingie where I kept one half and the other person kept one half that was given to me by my then-best friend in the 90s, haha.

The half pendant :)

Some other stuff that I like to keep are birthday cards or any cards given to me as well as presents. Some I am still using while some are for safe-keeping. Back in Brisbane, I have this habit of keeping those bus/train/ferry ticket stubs especially after we visited long distant places. Back then I figured that those are nice to keep for 'kenang-kenangan', which is a bit weird, hahaha. I think I have thrown most of them away now.

While rummaging through my storage cupboard during cleaning, I came across an old tin box that I kept ages ago, which contain some memorabilia & gifts from the youth exchange programme that I went to in South Korea in 2001. I looked through the stuff and found some telephone cards, key chains, some cash and so on. Thought I'd share with you guys what I have put inside almost a decade ago.

The old tin box

The inside of the box :)

Korean cash: 1000 Kwon, 5000 Kwon and 10000 Kwon

The back side. I just realised that I forgot to flip the last one hehe

US$1, US$10 and 200 Vietnamese Dollars :)

The back side

Refreshing towel and a tissue from Korean Air which I kept. Not so refreshing anymore, hahaha

Telephone cards that I bought and used to call Brunei from the hotel

An unused 5000 Kwon phone card. Still in it's plastic!

Some post cards that I exchanged with other participants

Some gifts that I received during the last day :)

Map of the subway

Some letters that I received from Korean friends hehe

Some name cards

Korean coins

So these are a small portion of the stuff that I kept over the years, haha. What stuff do you like to keep?
