Holidays, Work and Pies

Hello readers,

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few days, hehe. I have been super busy with work and I am glad that we will be having a 3-day holiday starting tomorrow. I need my rest! Hehe. Though work has been hectic, I have enjoyed it very much. I am soooooo looking forward to the holiday! I plan to eat lots, and sleep lots, haha.

Anyway, we have been quite lucky these past few weeks since we have had a few public holidays dispersed throughout the month. 23rd February was another day of celebration and to be thankful of. We have reached our 26th National Day, and I think it is not too late to wish every Bruneian a "Happy 26th National Day!".

So during the national day holiday, I decided to bake a Chocolate Pie for the first time. I was craving for something sweet and chocolaty. Watching those food tv shows that I love so much does not help at all, haha. Below are some piccies that I took while in the process of baking the pie.

Preparing the dough for the pie crust

Rolling the dough to a flat thin layer

Placing the dough on the pie tray

Preparing the chocolate filling

Mix on the stove until it thickens

Beating egg whites to make meringue

Baked pie crust

The chocolate filling is poured into the crust

A layer of the meringue is poured on top of the chocolate

Baked chocolate pie. Slightly burned on top, haha

And tada!! I couldn't wait for it to cool down, so I took my first bite. Nyum! :P

Mmmmm..cookies!

So thank you to Nabnab for bringing my kiriman of Smith's sour cream and onions chips (my all time favourite keropok) and some nyummy cookies all the way from Brisbane hehe. And yes, I've checked at Supasave, those chips are not available here unfortunately. :P

What am I up to lately? Well, I've been quite busy with work nowadays. And today, I have started attending a V-Sigma workshop, which is the first of a kind workshop held in UBD. Thus, I am grateful to be able to attend. One of the perks of having the part time job, I guess, since I am being sponsored to attend along with my other part time colleague although I am working at the same time to help ensure the smooth running of the workshop. The workshop runs until the end of this month.

On another personal note, most of my Brisbane friends are now back in Brunei for the holidays, so expect to see some posts of our reunion soon! :D I haven't seen them, except for Nabnab, when she came to deliver my goodies this morning. Thanks again Nab! hehe.

There wasn't much exciting stuff happening this past few weeks. I think you'd notice from my lack of posting haha. Oh well, til the next post peeps! :P

Potato pun ada baju

I tried making jacket potato last night with tuna mayonnaise and onions filling. It turned out great! Hehehe. Next time, I would like to try using buttered mushrooms and cheese filling. The thing about cooking this is that it takes almost an hour to cook although it is easy to make! But the result was worth it, hehe.
