BBQ, pizza, tandoori weekend

Hello all! As you may have noticed, I did some changes in the layout which for some reason did not come up really well using Internet Explorer. I will try to look on how to modify that little problem. So for now, pakai Mozilla Firefox lah bisai, hehe. That's what I did the whole afternoon tadi, saja buang boring..

Friday night, Sa'dy came over to watch the opening of the Beijing Olympics with us. The countdown started at 9pm but the real show actually started at 10pm. One word described the opening= Amazing! All the performances were spectacularly jaw-dropping, all so techno-advanced and we got to see the lively cultural performances of what China is all about, so enriched with colourful costumes and acrobatic marvels! Gushing banar ku, haha.. The first hour was dedicated to all these performances, which was then followed by the team procession from each participating 204 countries. What was really amazing, was the fact that we get to see and learn some of the countries that we never would have known would exist! That just goes to show, how diverse and gigantic the world is, being separated by all these continents, seas, land and oceans. Waseh! Banar plang, sometimes, even in brissy, when a local asked you, "Where are you from?" and I would answer, "Brunei." They would look at you with this puzzled expression and you can see their thinking gears processing while enquiring back, "Brunei? Hmmm.." I would just smile and tell them that it's in the island of Borneo, near M'sia and Indonesia. Some would say, "Oh! There's where the Proboscis monkeys are!", or "Oh! Your country is rich in oil!". Well, ada plang yang tau and ada jua nda atu. Mostly orang sini ani pikir kami ani orang Indonesia kalau durang tanya, hehe.

Oh, and I have this one funny experience lah jua masa ku arah booth of this one phone company bah. This lady was attending to me kan and she was asking me where I am from and I replied back, "Brunei." She was looking at my ID and saw the Arabic Jawi writing on it and then she confidently commented, "Hmm, is that in Alabama? I noticed the Arabic writing here?" (while pointing to Arabic script). Trying to hold back my laughter, I said, "No. It's in Borneo, near M'sia and Indonesia." She said back, "Oh, I thought since this is in Arabic, you may be from Alabama." What! Internally, I was thinking kan, eh, bukan Alabama ani in the US kan? Hahahaha.. Looks like somebody needs to brush up on her Geography there, hehe.. Even though aku ani nda brapa minat Geography, that was too far fetched in my opinion.. :p Jauh jua tu, hehehe..

Bah, kan terside track ku lagi! Hehehe.. So back to the Olympics.. So after the procession, was the finale, in which the torch was carried around the stadium (which looks like a bird nest! Cool!) by gold medalists. The final torch bearer, in a surprising twist, was lifted up in the air and ran or so it appeared to look like, around the stadium before lighting up a larger than life beautifully designed torch. The fireworks displayed through out the show were amazing! We watched the whole opening act till 2:15am in the morning! To stay awake, we drank teh tarik and enjoyed Yunyun's carrot cake, hehe.. Ahir kami tidur that night. Sa'dy stayed the night and we watched Southpark lagi after that since balum mau tidur. Eventually, I fell asleep around 4am. :p

On Saturday, woke up around 11am. Had brekkie then beusai since we were going out at 1pm. Yunyun and I went to Guyatt Terminal to wait for the citycat with Sa'dy, Sabrina, Nabnab and Syimsyim. Tejumpa jua other Bruneians as well. We boarded the 1:10pm citycat to Southbank where the Brunei Student Society (BSS) BBQ was being held at Picnic Island. Took some pics seperti biasa, hehe.

Yunyun and I went straight to Syimsyim and Nabnab's place. We watched Wanted and What happens In Vegas yang c Rahmat download. Kirakan my second time lah watching both movies. Hehehe.. For dinner, we ordered pizza and garlic bread from Dominos.

We returned home by 11pm. Lalah rasaku, since ahir tidur the night before. Today, woke up to almost noon! Wah, sleep in banar ku today, overslept ada plang. Well, that's what weekends are for! :) Spent the afternoon modifying my blog. At 4pm, Syimsyim and Nabnab came over and we cooked dinner together. Yunyun made Nasi Briyani (this time without colouring :p) while Syimsyim buat Tandoori chicken. Sedap-sedap! We had that with "acar" and "telor masak merah". Last night the theme was western and ani, Indian, hehe..
