Skeletons and pagodas

Ramadan Day 2
Sungkai: 5:36pm

Woke up at 9 something today. There were no lectures scheduled this morning. Sebatah ku di brisbane ani, jarangku kan tebangun for sahur, so I just ate late last night, kira awal sahur lah tu, haha.. Awal-awal atu lah saja, when we first arrived in brisbane back in 2006, we sometimes got up for sahur since biasa udah bangun masa puasa di Brunei. I guess I have no motivation to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to eat here, especially when I feel so drowsy. I mean, if I do eat, atu pun sikit saja. I guess my tummy is not prepared to eat food when it is scheduled to sleep and rest as it would usually do. Lain lah halnya kalau di Brunei. Ada my mom or dad to bangun kan, haha.. I'm the type yang payah kan bangun, apa nya orang, "mengeliat" kah tu hehehe.. Tunggu saja kana katuk pintu, kana suruh bangun untuk sahur, barutah tu bangun hehehe.. atu pun sometimes I fell back asleep that they have to balik-balik panggil.. sama tah tu macam my sister though she's better lah lagi, mau lagi tebangun.. wah, how I miss puasa di Brunei! Ani kirakan would be my 3rd time fasting and celebrating Hari Raya in Brisbane away from my family. Kelurusan jua bukan time cuti kan. And life goes on as usual, skool, weekend, skool, weekend, etc..

Ramadan here is very different. Sama saja the activity that you do everyday, the only difference is that you are fasting. And you don't really share that Ramadan feeling since orang putih nda jua brapa tau kan, haha, sama orang sesama Islam saja yang merasa kan. I miss helping out my mom in the kitchen, preparing for sungkai and eating dinner with my family. Lagi tah betambah siuk if sungkai ramai2 with uncle2, aunties and cousins, lagi meriah! hehe.. I also miss going to the gerai Ramadan, macam-macam ada.. dari kuew teoy, ke kebab, ayam golek (*drools*), satay, macam2 kueh melayu lah, minuman beraneka jenis, and macam-macam lagi lah. Since sudah dua tahun labih tinggal di Brisbane ani, biasa plang udah puasa and beraya di luar negeri. Mula-mula puasa and raya sini atu andang apa ni nya orang, membagi "rawan hati" lah jua, tapi apa bulih buat, kan belajar atu kan, so kuat kan lah semangat, hehe. I know that everyone must feel that way kalau masa baru mula2 meninggalkan family and hidup sendiri. Ani okay lah sudah jua, biasa sudah adapting myself being away from the family for so long. All you can do is keep in touch with them and enjoy your life here, hehe..

So this morning nada lecture, but I went to uni anyway tadi at 11am to revise at the library. At 1pm, I went to the anatomy building for an Anatomy practical regarding the Axial Skeleton and Trunk. I actually enjoyed the practical tadi atu. That may be due to the fact that tadi we managed to snagged a tutor for our own group for the whole session, iatah siuk mendangar ia explaining stuff and helping us in identifying the different bones and muscles on the cadaver. While we were examining a skeleton, ada tia one of my group mates atu betanya if the skeletons that we were studying atu are real. Nya the tutor, yup, they are real though some of the samples are not. Katanya, right now, it's harder to obtain real skeletons to study. Years and years ago, people in India used to dig up graves to get skeletons which were then sent abroad for sale. This practice was then banned. Gilerr! I guess that should not have come as a surprise since banyak jua orang di sana sanggup menjual their body parts such as their kidney tia to foreigners. It's just a matter of whether the organs are compatible to the buyer or not. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is still going on, and they usually sell their organs for a cheaper price. Macam-macam adaaa... hehe

After the practical, I went to the library lagi to do some revision then headed home at close to 4:30pm. Balik rumah, masak then we had our sungkai. Watched some Idol lagi tonight, hehe.. Eh awu, we were watching the news tadi, and apparently, the pagodas in Chinatown, which is a Brisbane landmark, is going to be demolished soon. This is because the structure has become unstable and some debris can be seen falling down which may be a danger to the public. After the demolition, the structures will be rebuilt back with the guidance of Chinese experts. Another interesting news item tadi, was a marathon being conducted di sini in which the contestants got to race in their heels! Waseh! hehehe, tabik tabik to those yang handal atu. I don't really wear much heels, and to imagine myself running in them? No sir, thank you! I probably wouldn't get that far, hahaha.. I'm having trouble myself running fast in sports shoes! :p
The pagodas in Chinatown

Alrite then, enough ramblings for the night.

Gd night! :)
