Roslan's Wedding: Menghantar Berian & Akad Nikah

Today is my cousin (from my dad's side), Abg Roslan's akad nikah ceremony. We gathered at his family residence in Katok for a Doa Selamat before heading to the bride's house in Lambak for the Menghantar Berian ceremony followed by the Solemnization ceremony or Akad Nikah. It has been quite a while since the last time that I have participated in carrying the "gangsa" from the Groom's house to the Bride's house. My cousins and I were assigned to carry the gangsa and the gangsa-carriers got into a rented bus together, to bring us to the Bride's house, followed by the groom's entourage. It was fun riding along the bus together while being very careful with each of our loads, hehe. As we reached our destination, we 'queued' up according to the numbers of our gangsa, hehe. Fortunately, there were no embarrasing incidents as we managed to bring the gangsa into the house without tripping, haha. We watched as the Akad Nikah proceeded without a hitch. After the Akad Nikah, we had to carry 21 gangsa back, bearing gifts from the Bride to the Groom. It was a great but a tiring day all in all, hehe.

Nursing kittens

From my previous post, I mentioned that we found 3 cute kittens at the backyard of our home last Sunday. We were having trouble on how to feed the kittens properly since they are still newborns. So I decided to check the net, and found that we have to nurse the kittens using those baby bottles, since the mummy cat is still MIA to feed them herself. So that Sunday night, we bought a teeny tiny baby bottle much to the amusement of the convenience store owner when my mum told him that it's for kittens, hahaha. The pet store is closed sudah by that time, so we just bought the baby bottle instead of pet bottle, haha. My sister prepared the milk and we tried to nurse the kittens, which was rather an unsuccessful trial, haha, since the sucker? or whatever it is, seemed a bit large for the kitten's mouth eventhough we bought the smallest one, sian! Where's the mummy cat?! Sian kami meliat the kittens atu. They only managed to drink small amounts of milk since we think durang alum brapa pandai menyusu. Patutnya mama kucing nya ani mengajar anaknya kan. Siann.. We are rather unexperienced in this matter. If they were older, it would have been easier. So the next day, dad gave them away, hopefully they will be given better care by experienced owner. They will always be remembered for their stay with us here! My sister was a bit sad though since ia yang menjaga, but payah jua since kami pun nda brapa pandai if the mummy cat is not here jua. If the mummy cat ada, bisai ia menyusukan anaknya sendiri kan. Oh well. Good bye little kitties! We shall miss you! ~~

Here Kitty Kitty!

This morning dad heard some cute loud meowing from the backyard and went to investigate. Turned out that there were 3 kittens left behind underneath the banana tree! When mom first heard the noise, she thought it might be little baby monkeys or so, hahaha, cali! Imagine how funny that will be! :D She said it sounded different from cats tadi atu, so she did not want to check it out, karang lain plang dijumpainya hahaha. Cali cali! So after dad confirmed that it was indeed kittens, my sister went to see it for herself and rescued the kittens from under the tree. Kesian jua tu, karang tegugur kah apa and takut abis belumuran with tanah. The mummy cat was nowhere to be found. Mom went to see in the nearby large ditch if maybe the mummy cat has fallen in but it was not there. Hmmm, kesian the kittens. They are so small and they kept meowing shrilly all the time, probably looking for the mummy and hungry too.

We don't know how old they are, but it seems like they were recently born, my guess would be a few days old. My sister put them into safety by placing them inside a box. We left the box outside near the tree just in case the mummy cat comes looking. The kittens are so cute! So kesian that they were meowing, so we thought that they must be hungry, so we prepared some milk for them, but it was so cali since we are not sure how to feed them. So we tried to teach them by placing the plate near them and let them drink on their own, haha. Macam menyuruh baby minum sendiri tah pulang hahahaha! Ada jua yang pandai merati atu and started to minum dari sana, haha. Dulu, years and years ago, we used to have kitties on our own, but mamanya ada, so arah mamanya durang menyusu, so we didn't have a problem with that. But this time, nada kan, hehe. I wonder if we should buy those kitty milk bottles, hmmm.. It depends jua if the mummy cat finally appears to take the kittens away, hehe. No names yet haha. I'll update you again on their progress nanti, heheheh. :P

Awwwww! How cute! :P Can you estimate how old they are?

This is where they were found. Kesian!

Awwww!! :D So cute all snuggled up!

Here's a video of them drinking milk, haha! You can hear how loud their meowing are! :P

Out and About: Bandar

The Three Musketeers
Source: download-free-pictures.com

Last night, we had a night out at the town; to say we, I mean that to be me, Tiyah and Rahmat, the 'Three Musketeers' or the 'Fab Three', errrrr, hahaha, nada lah.. we don't ride horsies and swing swords while we gallop away in our magnificent shiny stallions.. hahaha, okay, I like to amuse myself using my overactive imaginations, heheh... Anyhuuu, last night Rahmat picked us up from our respective homes before we made our way to the Perayaan at Bandar. Looking for a parking space was a bit tricky but eventually we managed to find one not far from the gerais. We made a round of the somehow uncoordinated stalls and then decided to fill in our tummies at one of the restaurant-like tents, heheh. I ordered the Nasi Ayam, which was quite nyummy while the others had Kuew Teow and Mee Mamak. After dinner, we decided to walk around to see the cucul displays as well as to the Padang where families and their kids usually hang out and play ball and such, hehe. Taking pictures is also a must, haha. After that, we walked back and then headed back home. :)

Outing at Bandar

Last night, my family and I went to check out the annual Keramaian in Bandar which is held in conjunction with His Majesty's birthday. There were no performances on stage this year as one of the precautions against swine flu. There was quite a crowd last night. The stalls are selling a variety of merchandise, ranging from clothes, bags, crocs, toys to balloons and food. There were several tents set up for dining in. In addition, there is also the usual longans on sale where as we can see every year, the different vendors would be competitively shouting the prices of the longans per kilo, hehe. The price of longan has come down to as low as $3 a kilo. It is also during these Keramaians that we sometimes get to meet other friends and relatives. After checking out the stalls, we had dinner at one of the Soto 'tents', before heading back home. :)
