Coldest day of 2008 yet

According to an article from couriermail.com.au, today, 09/07/2008, "Brisbane has woken up to its coldest morning of the year, with the mercury plunging to a teeth-chattering seven degrees- and it's set to get chillier. The apparent temperature is even chillier though - at 6.1 degrees - and the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting an even colder start to the day tomorrow. Our previous coldest day of 2008 was June 15 when the mercury hit 8 degrees. This morning's temperature is more than two degrees below the average minimum temperature for July (9.5C) - typically our coldest month of the year..."

So peeps, put on your thickest comfiest winter jackets for the next few days.. :)

Shine on me

It was raining again this morning. It was cold too. Hence the deep slumber that I was into, that I "deliberately" missed my 8 o'clock lecture this morning, hehehe.. it was only that one lecture, okayy.. :p Woke up at 8am, then headed to uni with Yunyun. We met Syimsyim and Nabnab also on their way to uni, so there we were, walking in our little cluster with 4 different colourful umbrellas bobbing in the cold morning air.

We had our histology prac till 11am, then headed back home. We planned to cook late lunch/early dinner together, so Syimsyim and I went to Caicai's to get some stuff for rojak later. Went back to my place, then we spent the afternoon doing our FQs for this thursday while watching Nana Tanjung and Diva on tv. Nda plang brapa concentrate banar, more like background noise lah, hehe..

Late afternoon, we cooked and prepared our early dinner together. We had mee goreng, buttermilk chicken and rojak while we watched a Chinese movie which we later continued with a Korean movie, haha..

We just discovered that stove kami atu ada lampung, haha.. daras, daras.. lapas setahun tinggal arah rumah atu, nda pandai bepakai lampu atu.. baik jua c Syimsyim and Nabnab bagitau ada ..Apa nda, baru last night we discovered that lampu dapur kami rusak, so payah kan masak begalap2.. sikit lagi kan masak pakai flashlight tadi atu.. that would just be too funny.. :p

I did some reading for my CC formative exam esuk, baik jua we had a review last week, so ingat2 jua lah some stuff. I still got time to practise esuk, so I'll do a more thorough reading saja esuk.

Tool time!

It's Monday again! Another PBL case, this time regarding teenage pregnancy and much of the focus questions centre around ethical stuffs, which I know that we are only too happy to tackle..(right!) haha, tekarang, ethical stuff ani tah nda orang minat kan delve into and I, for one, would try to avoid taking focus questions regarding ethics ani, unless I have no other choice. But, banar plang, beguna and it would help us in dealing with real life situations, such as in this case that we are dealing with. Such as teenage pregnancy lah, involving minors lagitu. What would you as a doctor do in this case? What are your ethical and legal obligations? What strategies would you use in breaking the news and how would you handle the reactions of said teens? What options are available to them? These are some of the questions asked and raised... (*Bepikir sejenak*)

Sejenak saja, nda payah batah-batah! hehehe.. So to continue my story.. So after the PBL, I went to tapau Chicken burger arah Abg Mustar c tiyah aka Ayai at Hawken Drive. Tais liur ku kan makan.. And can I mention one thing.. is it just me, or prasanku macam naik tia harganya burger ah? hmm.. maybe pasal naik harga minyak atu kali, harga barang lain sampai burger ayam pun naik tia jua ah, heehee.. jauh melayang teoriku atu.. Mana tau ah, lurus kali.. hahaha.. While waiting for my order to siap, I went to the nearby Coles to get vanilla coke and chips. Then I walked back home for lunch and stayed there till 1 lalu, before going back to uni for my afternoon lectures. We stayed till the 4pm lecture before heading back home with Syimsyim and Nabnab. Yunyun and I went to Bluehouse skajap to get her stuff from IKEA.

At a quarter to 5, I went for a short jog. I had to stop after 2o minutes since it started to drizzle.. Laaaaa, nada chan orang kan exercise, maklum kan mengurangkan sikit barat badan lapas sesi "bina" badan masa cuti di brunei, hahaha.. The jog was refreshing, mana nda refreshing, basah kana aying hujan, haha.. though at least I managed to go seround from my place to the uq netball courts then back.

At home, I was helping Yunyun to pasang her new book case from IKEA in her room. Macam banar tah ni kami ah, lantak-lantak and tukul-tukul though Yunyun did most of the work :p

All this lantak-lantaking reminds me of a good tv show that I used to sometimes watch a few years back, Home Improvement, starring Tim Allen. The series centered on the antics of the Taylor family, including Tim (Tim Allen), his wife Jill (Patricia Richardson) and their three sons. The oldest is the popular and athletic Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan); a year younger is comedic and intellectual Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas); and finally the socially awkward youngest son, Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Tim had his own home improvement tv show called Tool Time. He was accident prone as a handyman, often causing hilarious disasters on and off the set to the consternation of his co workers and family.


While Yunyun was finishing the "construction" of the bookcase, I prepared dinner. We watched Definitely, Maybe on DVD while having dinner. One thing sums up the movie.. It's complicated! I enjoyed watching the movie, siuk lah jua. I'd give it an 8/10 in terms of siukness.

After dinner and movie, we did our own things. Macam malas ku kan masuk lecture kul 8 esuk atu, awal bangun lagi, haha..

The "No Jiggle" Law

I was just reading this article from an aussie online news website which I found quite interesting. Kecalian ku, and I would just like to share it with u guys, hehehe..

Basically, there are places in Aussie where you are allowed to sunbake topless but you have to abide to the "no jiggle" rule. "Dodgy" men with hidden cameras or telescope will be "shooed" away by the lifeguards on duty who have become the "morality police" on these beaches, hahaha.. Ada2 saja eh.. Kalau cematu jgn tah go topless in the first place kalau nda mau perkara cawie2 from happening. Asta.. Macam2 jua orang putih ani, ish ish ish..

Night out with the girls

Yesterday was my free day; no lectures, no practicals, makes one a happy woman, hehehe.. Woke up quite late yesterday, close to 11am. Apa ni nya orang.. "membayar mata", hehe.. My sleeping pattern is still quite bad since back in brisbane. I've been sleeping for less than 6 hours and pernah skali atu, 4 hours saja ku tidur.. Makes one sleepy and cranky, haha.. While today, ahir ku bangun atu, 12 labih! Well, you would if tidur pukul 3 last night, ish ish ish...

Thursday as usual is PBL day. I went to the 8 o'clock lectures, then had a 2 hours break before PBL, so I went to the physio refectory for an egg and cheese sandwich before going to the library. After some library session time, I went to the PBL building for 2 hours of presentations. After PBL, went straight home at 2pm. Syimsyim was there while Nabnab had her CC. Masa ku masuk atu, I found Yunyun and Syimsyim arah living room, "pretending" (*snickers*) to be asleep while the tv was on. Macam ku nda tau, hahaha.. I was talking to myself, tidur kah banar ni durang ani, haha, when I saw the corners of Yunyun's mouth twitching macam senyum2, haha! Gotcha!! :p I knew they were pretending to sleep! Ada2 saja durang ani.. lol..

I had my lunch, then we watched Malay movies. Nabnab came over after her CC, then we watched more movies, bemarathon kami banar sampai ahir malam.. Asikkk!! :D

On friday, as I mentioned earlier, woke up quite late. The house was quite since Yunyun was out for her CC. After breakfast, I went to work, unpacking my food boxes. Ahirnya siap tia jua. We put our boxes arah the garage for future use nanti. Spent the afternoon at home, then beusai since we were meeting Syimsyim and Nabnab at the bus stop at 5:45pm for a night out at the city. It was rather cold all day yesterday. Ramai lah jua orang di city last night. After keluar masuk kadai, we went to Starbucks for drinks.

After spending time at the city, we decided to go to the lifestyle market at Southbank, "cuci mata" and later on "cuci kaki" hahaha.. I meant this literally! :p

We didn't see anyone at the beach and pool area. Sapa jua kan mandi masa winter, haha.. Lapas di Southbank, we went to Syimsyim and Nabnab's place to watch a movie. We watched Senario Lagi and stayed there till midnight. :) It was a overall a great evening..

Back in Brisvegas

Hello! So what have I been up to these days? I'm back in brissy brissy land or "brisvegas" as what some people might say, hehe. This blog has not been updated for a week now. Since I'm still feeling the holiday mood, hence the absence of regular posting, hehe..

I left Brunei on sunday morning and arrived in Brisbane at 8pm local time. There were quite a few of us going back on the same flight. There's me, Yunyun, Nabnab, Syimsyim, Pei, Azim, Shing and Cass. I seriously did not feel like going back that day, haha, but the thought that I'll be back in less than 4 months cheered me up a bit. Oh well, you gotta do, what you gotta do.. hehe

The flight back to brissy was not too bad, at least the personal tv was working this time! When we arrived, we were told that the outside temperature was 14 degrees. It is the winter time this year around. We went through immigration and collected our luggage and boxes at the baggage claim. This time however, unlike before, there were actually sniffer dogs around! Baru tah kami pernah ni. There was one sniffing around where we were standing, and I have to tahan my instincts from lari. It got kinda close, baik jua nda kana! Ish ish ish.. We have always been warned of their presence there, but never got to see them until now.

There was no maxi cab around, so Yunyun and I got into a taxi while Syimsyim and Nabnab into another. We arrived home by 9:30pm. I wasn't really tired that night, so tarus tah ku unpack my luggage, though my food boxes are still lying near the kitchen up till now, hahaha.. Alum tah ku terunpack tu, maybe during the weekend tah saja.

I was having trouble sleeping since biasa tidur ahir di brunei. I only slept at 2am then have to wake up at 6:30am for my 8 o'clock PBL session. Sleep deprived ku tarus. Arah PBL pun nda bunyi2, hahaha.. We finished PBL an hour early, so I decided to go back home for lunch. Nda ku bemood masak, so I had Pop Mie tah saja. Went back to uni for the afternoon lectures.

At night, Yunyun and I mengayau ke rumah Syimsyim and Nabnab. Masih homesick kan Brunei sorang-sorang, so we kumpul2 to watch a movie that Nabnab bawa from Brunei. We watched Lagi-Lagi Senario yang pasal cerita roti canai atu.. Nyaman jua ketawa, hahaha



We stayed there till 12am then balik rumah. On tuesday, we only have one practical for the day. Mine was at 11am till 12:30. After the histology prac, Yunyun, Nabnab, Syimsyim and I went to China town to get fresh chicken and meat. We went our separate ways, then decided to cook our late lunch/early dinner together later on. At 3pm, Syimsyim and Nabnab came over and we masak2 together. We had a Malay movie marathon that night. It was fun! :) We watched Puteri Impian 1 & 2 and Gemilang which Yunyun brought from Brunei.

Both movies starred Amy Mastura as the main character. It is a story of a girl, trying to realise her dreams of becoming a puteri through a reality tv show.. She can be a comedic actress, cali cali.. hehe

Today, I had clinical coaching in Uni. We had a change of tutor starting this week, so nda tah ku payah ke hospital for my CC since my tutor will be using the rooms di Uni saja. That saves me some travelling time, hehe. After CC, went back home and finish up my FQ for PBL tomorrow. At night, Yunyun and I watched Bintang Hati. Masih alum ada mood kami kan start studying, sigh.. Baru jua 3 hari start new semester, hehe.. Anyhuu, hope u all have a good week!
