What? How? Huh? It's Thursday now..how fast time flies.. don't you think that the hours are disappearing quicker than before, and you'll just be going through the motions of your daily life routine; rise, eat, school/work, eat, sleep and so on.. and now, before you know it, you'll be halfway into your semester.. time is golden as some philosopher wisely says..
Here's how my day went. I woke up at around 8am today. I didn't attend the morning lectures.. too lazy to get up that early today, hehe.. Stayed home the whole morning and had the leftovers of the mee kuah for lunch. At a quarter to noon, I made my way to uni for the afternoon P.B.L. As usual, we went through the triggers of this week's case and did the presentation of each person's FQ. The P.B.L lasted for 2 hours. After P.B.L, I decided to go to the BSL library and do some work to repay the hours that I missed procrastinating this week, hehe..
I met Hazzie in the library and saw Pei and Dbah. I managed to get some reading done, in between facebooking and internet surfing (couldn't resist :p). Stayed there till 5:30pm until my stomach's continuous grumbling is beginning to embarass me in the silence of the library, hahaha.. Headed back home. It was starting to get dark and chilly, I should have brought my jacket along, but the feel of the evening breeze is calming somehow. Lots of joggers around and I can see lights being turned on in some houses. I took the long way home and actually enjoyed the walk. I havent jogged since that one time, a few weeks ago.
Arrived at home and rested for a while. Then Yunyun and I cooked dinner of fried rice and fried chicken. Went online and chatted with Syimsyim, Nabnab and Yunyun. Rested for the rest of the night. I had a nice chat online with Nad, who I have not been in touch with for quite some time. It was nice to catch up with her. She'll be going off to Southampton to continue her studies in med and I would like to wish her the best of luck for her final exams soon! The same goes to Farah and the rest of her batch. :)
I don't really have much to say in this post. That's pretty much what I did today.
Gd night! :)

Wacky wednesday
Wednesday is coaching day. Today, as with every other day (sigh..), awal bangun lagi.. Woke up at 6:50am and got ready for the 8am lecture. You think I should be used to these early mornings by now, but I guess my brain is still in denial of that fact, haha.. mau jua kan tidur lagi atu.. sapa jua menyuruh malam2 ahir tidur nah.. sendiri punya kraja jua, hehe.. Met Azim on the way to uni. Somehow I managed to get to the lecture theater at 5 minutes to 8, and I am quite amazed with myself with that achievement, haha, biasanya nda on time.. ;p
We had a genetics lecture this morning. Ok jua lah lecturenya atu, eventhough I was still half asleep tadi. Sat with Syimsyim, Nabnab and Yunyun. The lecturer had a distinct accent and he sounded Irish. He was explaining to us the importance of having pedigree charts and so on, especially in detecting the risks of family members of getting certain diseases. I didnt have any other classes this morning. Syimsyim was telling me that she was going to Coles at hawken drive to buy some groceries, so I decided to join her.
Indo mee... the life savior of uni students, haha
After lunch, I reviewed my handbook and watched some videos in preparation for my CC that afternoon. At noon, headed back to uni to meet up with my P.B.L mates. Rchelle and Alx drove us to the hospital and we arrived at 12:30pm. CC started at 1pm. For this week, we started going through the physical examination for the respiratory system and practiced on each other. I'm still not confident with my skills in this especially in the percussions of the chest.. Need to practice more on this..thankfully, we still have 2 weeks to practice before the formative exam.
CC finished at 3pm, and Rchelle drove us back home. I went to freshen up at home, and then, walked back to uni for a 5pm tute session. We had the tutorial on one of the larger rooms at the P.B.L building. The tute ended at a quarter to 7. There were still a number of people milling around in the campus grounds. The night was a bit chilly.. I wonder when winter will come. Syimsyim and Nabnab came over to our place skajap after the tute. For dinner, Syimsyim gave us "kuah mee" which we heated up for dinner and it's really nyaman! Thank you syimsyim.. and also thanx guys for the bread pudding this morning, hehe.. nda jua payah kami masak dinner nah, hehe..
This has been a long and tiring day.

I was craving for the scones that I mentioned in the previous post and bought some in the bakery ampir Coles atu. Then, we went our separate ways, Syimsyim to the hilly road to her place and me to my place. I had an early lunch of Indo Mee and "cow's eye egg" or apa nya orang brunei, telur mata lembu, hehehe.. and dessert of the yummy scones.

Super Tuesday
Tuesday is the usual continuous "no-break-for-you-missy!" pracs day. Hence the name of the post. Feel like superwoman on an empty grumbly stomach, haha.. Woke up at 10 to 7am, and was debating with myself on whether to attend the early 8am lecture or not. My inner geek won and I dragged myself out of the comfy bed. Had breakfast of biscuits and cold tea. (Before atu, mandi plang ku bhapa dulu.. :p ) On the way to uni, Yunyun and I met with Syimsyim and Nabnab near the glasshouses. Apparently, syimsyim was calling out to us awalnya tapi nda kami kedgran, since we had our ears besumbat with earphones, haha.. Quoting apa ckp c yunyun, "sorry nda kedangaran.. Maklum in the process of destroying hair cells " hahaha.. ada2 saja..
We had a lecture on epithelial transport in cystic fibrosis. The lecture was quite good and provided more elaboration of the lecture that we had yesterday. After the 1-hour lecture, I had a Microbes practical. Syimsyim had the same schedule as me for today, so kami sama2 ke lab. For that prac, I partnered up with Syimsyim. We examined some sputum sample, did a gram stain and looked at several types of bacteria in the light and fluorescent microscopes. As I mentioned in a previous post, cass and I did a throat swap last week. We had the chance to examine the plate which now contained some bacterial growth. Nothing nasty grew on mine, I assure you, hehe..
The prac finished 30 minutes early, (thank god!) so Syimsyim and I decided to get something to eat before the next prac, just to ease my tummy rumblings, due to my poor choice of early morning breakfast. We had fish and chips and met up with Shing and Cass at the physio refrac. We had histo prac next on the lower respiratory tract and looked at some slides and cells. Also, finished the prac 30 minutes early, so we went to the BSL library to borrow some books. At 1pm, we had an anat prac at the anatomy lab. Examined wet specimens of the lung and trunk, as well as briefly looking at some x rays posted up. We didn't stay long for a supposedly 2 hour prac. There wasn't much to do, so most people left an hour early. Syimsyim and Nabnab went to the UQ union, while I decided to head back home. On the way, met up with Aileen and had a little chat with her.
I arrived home at quarter past 2. Had a bit of a rest, then spent the afternoon agonizing over my FQ of the week.. We ran out of cooking oil, so Yunyun and I went to caicai's late afternoon. We cooked dinner of udang rebus, sotong kicap and sayur campur. The udang from coles turned out better than the ones that we bought from chinatown, which tasted like plastic, haha.. jadi recommended lah kalo kan bali udang, arah coles bisai, walaupun cooked udah.. Ok then, I need to review my CC handbook lagi for tomorrow and watch lagi the videos, sighh..
Till the next post.

And the cycle repeats itself..
Hey, it's monday again! It's officially a week now since I started this blog. That initial theory of hangat-hangat taie ayam is still lying dormant and hopefully will stay that way, hehe.. Just got off from my Brunei phone call which is long overdue.. and spent a good hour talking to my family.. but I didn't even get to talk to my dad since my phone card abis tia.. Next time, I will talk to him first.. The family in Brunei is doing alright and I'm pretty excited for my younger sister who will be going to compete in an Arabic debate in S'pore this wednesday. I wished her the best of luck while dropping in a couple of hints to bawakan ole2 untuk ku, haha.. if you are reading this, bisai2 saja di sana atu nanti..
My day started with P.B.L at 8am today... not being a morning person myself, as you may have realised by now, mcm biasa, payah2an rasanya kan bangun atu.. We had a new tutor today, John, who on first impression seems to be a "jolly" nice guy, as the British people would say.. kuat ketawa ia atu, and that's a good thing in my book :) We made the necessary introductions and had some discussions on how the group is usually run. As usual we started on the mechanism and case summary for last week's case. Today we started on a new case, regarding cystic fibrosis. Surprisingly, we managed to finish today's session in just 2 hours, which is a first for our group. With that, I have a 4-hour break, so I decided to go back home and cook lunch. I cooked some pasta with what remaining sauce that I still have in the fridge.
At a quarter to 2, I headed back to uni for the 3-hour afternoon lectures. The first lecture was on the innate immunity, which if I remember correctly is a repeat of a similar lecture that I had during my biomed course. It was good though tapi lecturernya atu berijap, sedikit org bising ditagurnya. On the plus side, nda jua org lain distracted kan. The second lecture was on cystic fibrosis. Quite an interesting lecture really, explaining the general mechanism behind cystic fibrosis and the treatments that are currently employed. I didnt go to the 3rd lecture, pasal pikiranku melayang tia udah by that time.. so, left uni at 4pm and went home. I was tired since I didnt get enough sleep, so I took a short nap.. it was really refreshing, hehe
Then at 6 plus, Yunyun and I cooked spaghetti and fried chicken for dinner. We watched FRIENDS while enjoying our dinner. At 10, I called Brunei to ask how they are doing di sana. Now, it's almost midnight here and I'm not even feeling drowsy yet.. must be the effects of all the cups of teh tarik that I've been drinking dari tadi, haha.. Oh well, tomoro's gonna be quite packed with pracs and an early start is needed. I need my beauty sleep! :)

Siuk2 makan atu, I can feel the place vibrating, rupanya ada orang doing some construction work not far from home. Patut tah bising! ish ish ish..
Notice the huge tall black crane thingy.. (pic taken from the balcony)

Weekend 101
My weekend was pretty unremarkable, I didn't really do anything much really.. On Saturday, I woke up around 8:30am. At 10am, we had a tute with Hsn, our second year senior at the BSL library. We discussed cases for weeks 10 and 11, regarding diabetes and otitis media. We had a look into the ethics section which I am still not quite familiar with (hehe). We had a discussion on the ethics essays and how important it is to get started on practising writing them. For these and speaking on behalf of the others, thank you to Hsn and the other seniors for giving us a helping hand all this time in settling ourselves into med life, hehe..
The tute ended at noon. Yunyun, Hazzie, Sa'dy, Val and myself decided to stay in the library, while waiting for our BSS meeting which was held at 2. After the meeting, we decided to head back home. I spent the afternoon main2 internet while waiting for the chicken and beef to thaw. Yunyun and I cooked an early dinner of daging kari and ayam halia. We ran out of veggies and didn't have the energy to go to caicai to get them, malas tah kami, hehe.
On Sunday, I woke up around 11am. This is the only day that I could really sleep in as most of my classes start at 8am. Lounged in bed and malas kan bangun, haha, masa tidur pun procrastinate, ish ish ish.. Spent most of the day at home. At 4pm, went to Coles to buy some groceries, as I ran out of eggs and my favourite bottle of coke/pepsi. At night, singgah kami skajap arah bluehouse to borrow Fathmee's speakers and played kajap with c Jazzy, the cat, hehe..
Well, that's pretty much what my weekend entailed. Next week will be another busy one for me.
Gd night! :)

The Mysterious Feline: Do Cats Really Have 9 Lives?
An English/American proverb stated:"A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three days he stays "
According to an internet website, most cats live for about 14 years, although some have been known to live to the age of 30 and even beyond. The myth that a cat has 9 lives probably came about due to its ability to escape from many dangerous situations without harm. Cats also have the uncanny ability to land on their feet when falling, even from great heights, and be able to keep on going.
Cats have keen eyesight, good memories and exceptional senses of hearing and smell. These combine with their swiftness and agility to help keep them out of danger. They are able to get out of nasty situations because they can get through pretty small spaces to make their escape. Thus, eventhough a cat may escape with its life many times, it still lives only once, just like any other animals.
