And the crown goes to...

Today is the Sultan of Brunei's 62nd Birthday. That means lots of celebrations, fireworks and "cucul" on the roads and near the palace. And you know what else? The much anticipated "padang keramaian" which I would truly miss in going. I know it's pretty much the same each year, tapi siuk jua, sometimes you see something nice that you would want to get, and don't forget all the good cheap food that you could buy, like sotong tutuk which jarang kan tejumpa and all the "mata kucing" that the vendors would promote, shouting out the prices, in competition with each other, "Bah, $3, $3 sekilo! Bali-bali, banyak murah!" hehehe.. Inda plang ku ingat brapa sekilo, well, hypothetically lah tu.. Baruku notice, usually, waktu waktu keramaian macam ani tah yg banyak bejual mata kucing ah..hmm.. I'm not really a fan plang, hehe.. Banyak tah bejual all these toys untuk kanak2, especially yang paling popular, are those glowing things, mcm kana jadikan bangles tia apa.. you know what I mean, hehe..

Kalau masa ku damit-damit dulu, selalu tu kana bawa main ke padang sir muda di bandar, main bula tia, sama my boy cousins..hehe.. Ani dui ma, basar2 udah ani, nada ku tekabir kan belusir2 haha and nda jua lagi sais kan ikut bemain, hahaha.. This year since our holidays were only 3 weeks and unfortunately, it did not coincide with the Sultan's birthday celebration, miss tah ku nda ikut celebrate di brunei. Last year, sampat lagi tu ke sana with my family and friends. The thing with going to the padang keramaian, is the fact that you could watch some interesting characters, and selalunya iatah tampat betamunya dengan orang2 or saudara2 yg jarang dijumpai, while at the same time quenching your taste buds with all the good food like satay and ketupat (sia2 pun!).

And don't forget the fireworks! Masa damit, iatah excited banar ni kan meliat. Tapi macam banar, kalau usulnya ampir bunga api atu, takut tia jua, haha.. Atu masa dulu lah, ani udah basar panjang ani (pendek in my case, hehehe), nda plang lagi takut, hahaha..

Bah, enough with the reminiscing already! Tapi kadang2, siuk jua mengenangkan kenangan2 dulu atu, hehe.. Bah, bhapa saja ku since yesterday? Well, seperti biasa, bangun awal for my PBL. Ahir ku dtg sikit, sengajaku plang tu, haha.. After PBL, I went to Toowong, kan tanya2 sal my phone atu tapi still no news. I called the Lost property section untuk train services jua, and alum durang tejumpa jua. I gave them my details, and nanti kan ku call lagi esuk lusa, to check if it will turn up. Oh well, I'm still hoping..

Then I went to Coles for some groceries before heading home. I didn't go to the afternoon lectures, ndaku bemood, so instead I started on my FQ. The other 3 gals pun nda masuk lecture since nda brapa siuk topicnya. Yunyun and I went to S&N's place where we spent time doing our FQs and discussing a bit on this week's case. We had dinner together then watched Miss Universe 2008 arah channel 7 at 10:30pm. One of the host is a Spice Girl, Mel B. I was a bit surprised with that. We were rooting for Miss Colombia to win the title but eventually Miss Venezuela was crowned as the 2008 Miss Universe. Well, based on the last round of Q & A, we think that she does deserve to win after all, hehe. Yang kesian nya is Miss USA, who actually fell during the ball gown competition, but she bravely stood back and smiled to the crowd despite the embarrassment. Nda salahku ada arah youtube kana show ia gugur atu. Ada2 saja, hehe..

Today, I went to the morning lecture.. and menyasal ku dtg. Most of the stuff ada arah lecture notes udah. Then went to my histo practical with Yunyun, Syimsyim and Nabnab. After prac, we went to the physio refectory to get something to eat before heading to the library. At 1pm, Nabnab and I went to the anatomy prac. Sejam kami saja di sana, lapas atu cabut! haha.. I went to the library and stayed there sampai 5pm, before heading home.

Well then, that's enough rambling for tonight..

Fifth time's the charm

Today, Yunyun, Syimsyim, Nabnab and I decided to watch a movie at the Southbank cinemas. We janji to meet up at Guyatt Park for the 3:35pm citycat. It's a good thing that we managed to grab some seats for Mamma Mia! showing at 4:10pm since there were only a few seats left. Siukkk ceritanya and funny too! Since it is based on a musical, there's a lot of singing and dancing involved that you almost feel like moving your booty along with the music, haha.. I love all the music used in the movie. I'd give it a 9/10! :)

After the movie, we met up with Sa'dy and Sabrina. We decided to have dinner together at the new Malaysian restaurant, Makan House, in West End. We got into the 199 bus and then walked to the restaurant. To our dismay, rupanya the restaurant is closed on Sundays.. Laa, sia2 pun kan cuba makan sana. Arah internet, ckp buka, I guess alum beupdate tia kali info arah internet atu. So our other option untuk restaurant halal arah West End would be Nandos or Indian Kitchen. Malas kami ke Nandos, so we decided to eat arah Indian Kitchen. We walked the short distance to the restaurant, tapi ramai orang, panuh lagitu berqueue, so we decided to skip sana and try out this Indonesian restaurant also in West End. We had to take another 199 bus since it is further away. Awalnya kan jalan kaki, tapi berijap usulnya, sunyi and gelap.. Bini-bini saja lagi kami semua, jauh palis, hehehe.. We didnt have to wait long for the bus to come. The bus ride was only for a few minutes, then we turun the bus once we spotted the Indon restaurant, known as Makanan Indonesia. First time kami kan cuba makan di sana. It was situated along a stretch of restaurants.. Ramai lagi org tu di sana ah. When we arrived, we saw a lot of diners and it seemed like the place is jammed packed as well. When we talked to the waitress, we were informed that there were no empty tables left, and kalau mau tunggu, pukul 8:30pm baru tah ada tu.. That would be in 1 hr labih.. what luck! hahaha.. ramai orang rupanya makan diluar sunday nights ani.. Lapar tu kami udah seorang2.. Nda kami tetunggu, so we decided to just balik ke St Lucia and makan arah 1001 nights arah c Mustar. To get there, we have to get into another 199 bus which took us to the West End citycat terminal. We boarded on the citycat to UQ, then walked to the bus stop. Atu pun batah kami tunggu, nda jua ada sampai busnya ani, so then we decided to walk to Hawken Drive saja mengaga restaurant c Mustar. Once there, it was already 8:30pm by this time, we discovered that 1001 nights pun tutup! Hahaha, what luck for us today.. so the only halal option arah Hawken Drive would be Salt and Battery or Curry Connection. Since neither of us have tried Curry Connection (baru kami tau halal), makan sana tah kami. This time, the restaurant buka and nda ramai.. Wahhh, this is the fifth restaurant that we walked into, barutah belurih makan, haha.. baru ia, menahan lapar for more than 2 hours.. Iatah kami panggil our little adventure atu, "jalan-jalan cari makan". hehehe.. The restaurant is kinda pricey but it was worth it. Nyaman.. I tried the Briyani with chicken and Sweet Lassi.. Though the service was a bit slow, but in the end, nyanyat jua kami kan ke sana lagi.. hehe

We finished dinner by 9:30pm. Usulnya nada bus, so we decided to walk back home. On the way back, we were talking while jalan2 along the field area atu, ada tia this car zoming past us with its window open. Suddenly we heard this random guy shouting arah kami, "Show us your t*ts!!" Gilaaa, tekajut kami atu! Misti mabuk ni kali.. Baik jua ia nda beranti or anything, ish ish ish, jauh palis! We went back to our respective homes. It was a rather great evening, walaupun jauh perjalanan, haha.. apa ni nya org, fifth time's the charm!

Birthday partayyy!!

Last night, we went to a joint birthday bash for Fathma, Sa'dy and Syimsyim at Bluehouse. It was a blast and I had a great time. That helps to take my mind of my missing phone :( . Anyhu, on a cheerier note.. Yunyun and I arrived at 7:40pm with Syimsyim and Nabnab. The bluehouse was transformed with lots of balloons and streamers (luruskah? hehe), hanging from the ceiling. We were informed that last night's theme was "warna-warni" and true to the theme, memang warna warni decorations nya! hehe.. Lawa lah jua deco nya, meriah! hehe.. We also noticed that the balloons have our names on them as well. We played Charades after eating, which was then followed by cake cutting.

The night went on with a game of FRIENDS, testing how much you really know a person.

We stayed there until midnight before heading home. Actually I still had lots of pics from the party which I will post up nanti on facebook, hehe..

Cobaannnn....

On Saturday, I woke up around 9:30am. I had sausages with eggs and baked beans for brunch. At a quarter to 1, Yunyun and I went to see our interviewee for our life course assignment in Corinda. For the assignment, we have to interview a >70 year old elderly person and write a 3000 word essay on their life and health. We made our way to toowong station to catch the train. The bus was late on schedule that we eventually missed the train that we planned on getting on. So I have to call Mr X to inform him of our late arrival. Since we still have 30 minutes to kill, Yunyun and I decided to jalan round2 the shopping complex and bought some oranges and kiwi for Mr X.

The train was a 20 minutes ride from toowong. We waited for a few minutes once we arrived in Corinda. This was Yunyun's and my first visit to Corinda. Mr X was kind enough to pick us up from the station. He is kind and sweet, and eagerly answered all our questions during the interview. His wife also welcomed us with warmth into their home, and offered us some tea and biscuits as well at the end of the interview. We stayed there for 2 hours, before Mr X sent us back to the station to catch our train back to toowong.

Once in toowong, I realised that my mobile phone was missing! Panic ku dalam hati. I tried calling my phone a few times pakai Yunyun's mobile. Ringing plang but nada kana jawap. Nda ku tau cemana bulih hilang. I think (i think) that I may have put my phone arah the pocket of my jacket, which is not so dalam, and takutku maybe my phone tegugur or something. Tapi ndaku tau dmana, it could be arah toowong shopping complex atu, or arah train or mayb tinggal arah rumah Mr X. Kalo di sana tinggalnya baik jua, at least dpt ku ambil.. Bad luck ku eh that day! Alum ku pernah hilang mobile before ani! Usually I keep my phone in a small phone bag and simpan arah bag, but that day, since aku takut nda kedangaran kalo Mr X menelipun, ku simpan tia arah jacket ku.. Sheeshh.. So if u guys ada nampak mobile pink motorola L6, with a Leo mobile tag dangling on it, that's mine!

I went back to toowong to ask customer's service kalo ada org balikkan the phone but alum ada. She was helpful though and suggested me to call centre management di sana since slalunya orang hantar barang yg durang jumpa ke sana. But I can only do that monday since tutup udah the place.. sighh.. Kalo kan jumpa org arah train station sana atu pun, tutup tia jua yesterday atu.. sighh.. Tinggal kan mengcall Mr X lagi krg.. sighhh...

From toowong, I went back to the bus stop and met Frh and Nrl. They suggested that I send a msg to my phone and kalo ada org jumpa, to contact my fren's number. Banar jua tu ah, that's a logical thing to do.. I guess I wasn't really thinking properly, as I was thinking and trying to retrace back kemana saja ku tadi atu.... Mudahan saja ada org baik tejumpa and balikkan my phone atu.. Sayang jua ku my phone atu, baruku bali lagi tu.. sighhh.. At least baik jua ada I bring my other phone ke mari.. Ada2 saja bah.. So now, I'm just hoping for the best.

Sajuknya! I'm home alone at the moment and I'm bored.. Mau plang kan mengayau ke rumah Syimsyim and Nabnab but it's really cold di luar mcm apa ni, "lemari es" (*winks at Syimsyim*) hehe.. malas tah ku.. I watched a few episodes of South Park (season 8, alum tah abis2nya since last semester, hehe) tadi and had my dinner. Yunyun is out at the moment with her cousin. So what have I been up to these past few days?

On Wednesday, I had my clinical coaching at UQ at 12:30pm. We were "supposed" to have our formative exam on the cardiovascular system this week. Our new tutor is away for the next 4 weeks, so she is being substituted by a 4th year this week. We waited for half an hour but still the substitute tutor was a no show. We rechecked the timetable to make sure that we had the time and place right and we did. Hmmm.. We went to see V about the situation but she was not in her office tah jua. Buat2 menunggu batah atu, hilang tah jua nervous kan exam, ish ish ish.. In the end, we practised saja together for another half hour then went back home. Nda jua pedah kami menunggu di sana batah2 kan. Baik jua ani kirakan just "practice" exam, before the "real" exam next week. Walked home with Aileen, then I went to the city to meet up with a friend of my uncle's, Uncle H, who has just arrived in Brisbane with his family. He contacted me the night before, asking about house rentals here. We went to see the rental housing agents in Toowong. Barutah ku pernah jumpa uncle H though I've heard about him coming here from my uncle. After the hunt, I went back home.

On Thursday, as usual, had a presentation during PBL. My topic for this week's case is the physiology of pregnancy. After the 2 hour PBL session, I went to the library for some quality reading time. It was not as productive as I'd hoped it would be, hehehe.. So I decided to cut the session short and go shopping. Kan ke city, alang2 jua since it's already half past 3, so I went to Indroo instead. Yunyun was at the city sudah jumpa cousinnya since she had her PBL on an earlier session than mine. Banyak orang Brunei rupanya di Indroo atu. I met Mai and Kartini arah Best and Less, as well as Sa'dy, Fathma and Haz at the lowest level. Asikk shopping and I got a new jacket, tee shirt and pajamas. Satisfied with my findings, decided to balik and catch the bus to toowong. At the toowong bus stop, I met Nazmi, and new brisbanian, Sabrina and her hubby. Sampai rumah, freshen up and had my takeaway kebab before heading to Syimsyim and Nabnab's place. Yunyun was there udah. We watched Soal Hati (handsome c Aflin Shauki di sini, hehehe) and a bit of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Balik rumah close to midnight. Gilaaa.. freezing di luar, hahaha.. Masa ani nda cukup rasanya satu selimut, misti bedouble! Baru di sini tu, apa lagi kalau org di NZ and UK atu, lagi sajuk! :)

Today, nada kemana mana. Aku atu awalnya angan2 kan ke city menyampaikan hajat klemarin tapi nda tah ku jadi. I did go out though skajap, to get the $1 pepsi from the thai restaurant near kadai runcit c Caicai. Arah lain nada tu bejual canned drinks semurah atu, hehehe.. So here I am.. batah2 ku becerita ani, balik tah udah c Yunyun nah, hehe.. Bah ok, till the next post.
